No. The Little Prinz Children's Home is itself a Registered Charitable Children's Institution CS NO. 000779, registered in Kenya.

Little Prinz Children's Home is not funded by any outside organization. We currently are searching for a corporate sponsor, foundation, or nonprofit to work with for funding and currently rely only on individual donations.

For the moment, all donations are done only through crowdfunding on the Little Prinz website donation portal:
https://littleprinzorphanage.org/become-a-sustaining-donor

All Donations go straight to the Little Prinz financial account to pay for expenses like food, clothes, teachers and improvements to the premises as required by Kenyan Children's Authority or as the directors see fit to improve the lives of the children under their care.

The family who takes care of The Little Prinz Children's Home & Academy are themselves Christians, specifically Jehovah's Witnesses.

The children do accompany them to Christian meetings, however, none of the children are required to become Christians to be able to stay at the orphanage.

The Little Prinz Children's Home is itself a Registered Charitable Children's Institution CS NO. 000779, registered in Kenya.

Little Prinz Children's Home is not funded by any outside organisation that has any influence on how or on what the donated money is spent.

We are currently searching for a new sustainable sponsor (like a foundation or corporation) and for the moment rely completely on your individual donations.

All donations are currently done only through crowdfunding on our website's own donation portal, using PayPal as a gateway

Thank you so much for thinking of sending something to us! However, currently, the best way to support us is by sending us donations through our donation portal here on our website https://littleprinzorphanage.org/become-a-sustaining-donor

There are 3 main challenges when it comes to shipping items to Kenya. The first issue is expense. Oftentimes, shipping items from other continents to Kenya involves a great deal of expense. One donor who wanted to send us some children's clothing found that it was over $10 USD per pound (over $22 USD per kg) to ship from her area to ours. In her case, it actually made it more sense to send us a monetary donation than to try to ship us something. The second issue we have is that our mail service has been a little unreliable during the COVID 19 pandemic, which is an ongoing issue in Kenya as we are still under some restrictions of movement. The third issue, is that we also have high import taxes in Kenya, so that even if you were to send us an item as a gift, it would cost us quite a bit of money in customs/import taxes to receive the item. However, we are trying to work with the government on this to get a tax-exempt status on items that are sent to us internationally. Even though we are a registered charity in Kenya, it is not automatic that we recieve tax-exempt status on items that are shipped to us. We will update the answer to this question once we have gotten this status.

However, if you are in the country of Kenya and would like to send us some children's clothing, baby formula, diapers, or other items, please contact us through our contact page or on our social media and we will make individual arrangements with you.

We would love to be able to register with Amazon Smile as well as many other donation collecting services for charities that are often available through popular social media platforms. However, Amazon Smile, as well as the many donation collection services we have researched, do not work with charities that are outside of the United States. There are some services that work with European based charities and a few services that work with other countries outside of Europe, however, none of these services that we have researched works directly with a charity in Kenya. This is one of the reasons why we are looking to work with a nonprofit or foundation that is based in a country outside of Kenya.

If you have done research and you know about a donation collecting service like Amazon Smile that definitely does work with Kenyan based charities, please let us know about this through our contact page.

The short answer is: no. The orphanage itself has legal guardianship the children already. This is why we are so passionate about our Children's Home being an actual family and an actual home for these children. There are also legal issues with making the children available for adoption: In order for the children to be available for adoption to others we would have to become an adoption agency ourselves and this is prohibitively expensive. On top of that, there is a moratorium in Kenya on international adoptions since 2014. (Please see the next question for more information on this.)

Currently, if you are a resident of Kenya you are able to adopt children from Kenya. However, at this time it is not possible to adopt children from Kenya internationally. There has been a moratorium on international adoptions since 2014 due to issues with child sex trafficking.

That being said, if you really are interested in adopting a child from Kenya, it is possible to establish residency here. The adoption process starts with 3 months of foster parenting (referred to as "residency with the child") and then you can apply for adoption with the Kenyan court system which is about a 6 month process that takes place in Kenya. The courts have become more open than in the past about adoptions outside of the child's tribe and race. It is recommended that you also check with your own country of origin for what would be necessary to bring your child back home with you.
